Traveling by train from New York City to the Hudson Valley
The pictures in this slideshow were taken Sunday, January 8, 2017 between 11:00am and 1:00pm on Metro-North’s Hudson Line. Snow had fallen the previous day so the branches, buildings, and bridges were covered in a delicate veil of white. The river was chunky with ice. As our train rolled along the tracks that followed the contour of the river bank, we passed through several riverside communities including Peekskill, Beacon, New Hamburg, and Cold Spring.
Both Metro-North and Amtrak offer passenger service from New York City to the Hudson Valley. Amtrak service runs north to Canada, while Metro-North’s northernmost stop is in Poughkeepise.
